Cong Chatto pushes private schools economic stimulus

First District Cong Edgar M. Chatto strongly backs the stimulus packages
which should be made available to private schools.
Chatto articulated the need of helping private schools offering basic,
secondary & tertiary education as they continue to bleed economically due
to Covid-19 lockdowns & the Enhanced Community Quarantines (ECQs).
Chatto bared that these schools are financially displaced as they have to
pay salaries of administrators, academic & non academic personnel at a
time when tuition fees collection is uncertain.
The separate meetings of the Committee on Economic Affairs & the
Committee on Higher Education talked about the issue and supported
Chatto’s move which was also incorporated in the Economic Stimulus Bill.
CHED Chair Popoy de Vera supported the move of Chatto. De Vera
asserted that the predicament faced by private schools is real and needs
immediate government response.
