64 OFWs are going home

All 64 overseas Filipino workers (OFW) are going home after completing the mandated quarantine coupled with the fact that the provincial government received negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test results from the Department of Health (DoH) in Central Visayas.

The OFWs have completed more than 14 days of quarantine. The extended quarantine period was a result in the delay of the release of the second PCR test results.

About 56 OFWs went home on Friday, joining the two OFWs earlier cleared to go home. The total OFWs that went home as of Friday afternoon is 58.

On Friday night, Gov. Arthur Yap reported in a Facebook post that the DoH released the negative results for the remaining six OFWs.

With the results, about six OFWs were cleared to go home, Capitol sources said.

Earlier, one OFW who tested negative twice was allowed to go home after getting clearance from the authorities. Another OFW was allowed to go home after testing negative of Covid infection even if he earlier tested positive in a PCR test taken in Cebu last April prior to the arrival in Bohol.

All in all, there are 65 OFWs, with 64 going home and one staying behind after testing positive of Covid infection.

Moreover, the April batch of OFWs is from Manila and Cebu. About 17 OFWs are from Cebu and 48 OFWs are from Manila.

The OFWs were placed under quarantine in three different sites. The sites are the Mercedarian Retreat House in Dauis, the Crabhouse in barangay Mansasa, Tagbilaran City, and  in Roman Empire resort in Panglao.

According to Kevin Damalerio, information cluster head of the Capitol, only one OFW remains in isolation. The one OFW who remains in isolation tested positive twice in the PCR results. The OFW remain asymptomatic and has been tested for a third time. Damalerio said that the OFW that remains in isolation will be released only if there is a negative PCR result. The OFW that remains isolated has already completed the mandated 14-day quarantine.
