Gov. Arthur Yap is saying that all protocols and standards must be in place before the province opens its doors to visitors and travelers.
The governor shared his thoughts during an interview on Thursday over dyTR’s Open Forum program.
The governor said he is concerned a lot about what will happen to Bohol after May 31 with Executive Order No. 28 placing Bohol under general community quarantine until May 31.
The governor said he is not going to open Bohol’s borders to visitors unless everything is ready.
He said there is a need to know how to handle the potential 20,000 to 30,000 visitors coming in and out of the province each day once Bohol opens its borders.
Also, there is a need to boost the testing capabilities of the province. The governor said if possible, there should be testing centers to be placed in multiple sites. He mentioned during the interview, Panglao as the town with potential sites.
Additionally, the governor said there is a need to put the standards and protocols in place and what screening and testing protocols needed to be in place for those who are going to visit Bohol.
Moreover, Yap said there is a need to determine whether or not the community sanitation and safety rules are being followed strictly. It would be difficult to open Bohol.
The province has started to open its doors to locally stranded individuals by rolling out the processes and requirements prior to their return to Bohol.
Aside from the LSIs and visitors to Bohol, investors are also expected to pay the province a visit once the borders are opened subject to certain limitations.
