Lopez apologizes for giving wrong info

The spokesman of the Technical Working Group (TWG) on new and emerging diseases, Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, is apologizing for having given wrong and inaccurate information about a Covid 19 probable patient now admitted at the Ramiro Community Hospital (RCH).

He issued the wrong and inaccurate information to certain media outlets during a virtual presser held last week.

He also made the public apology during Thursday’s edition of the said virtual presser.

Lopez said he is saying sorry for the inaccurate information relayed to some media outlets, not including the Bohol Tribune, about the contacts of the 17-year-old female patient who tested positive for a viral infection.

The patient was subjected to a rapid antibody test prior to her appendectomy at the Ramiro Community Hospital (RCH) on Monday, May 18.

In the 2nd virtual presser mentioned above, Lopez took back what he said about the lady patient. Lopez clarified that the lady patient, contrary to what he previously said, has no links with one of the medical technologists now isolated in Cebu. The medical technologist was tested positive of Covid.

Moreover, Lopez said that per contract tracing, it was found out that the lady patient’s brother has a friend who lives in a town located in the third district of Bohol. It is widely known that the town being referred to is Garcia Hernandez.

Lopez, durin his apology, refuted the information which he earlier relayed about the link between the patient’s brotherand the medical technologist who tested positive for Covid 19 and who is presently in isolation in Cebu City.

In the presser, Lopez said there is no truth that the patient’s brother is linked to the medical technologist.

The Bohol Tribune on Thursday (May 21), exposed the inaccurate information regarding the link between the patient and the medical technologist as the Bohol Tribune was able to get a clear screenshot of the conversation between the patient’s brother and a reliable source. The patient’s family also denied the same the relationship.

The family of the Ramiro patient said that they don’t even know the medical technologist who tested positive of Covid 19.

It was mentioned that the brother of the patient’s girlfriend is not a medical technologist but someone who took up another course.

It was further learned by The Bohol Tribune from a source that the members of the family of the patient are very embarrassed, sad, and ashamed of the false accusations. The same source said that the mother of the patient could not help but cry and sob out of the false accusations against them as wrongly exposed by Dr. Lopez and as published in a newspaper (not The Bohol Tribune).
