The public is giving good words to Ramiro Community Hospital (RCH) for its proper handling of the issue regarding the probable Covid 19 patient that turned out to be negative of the virus after a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
People say that the handling of the said situation by RCH is said to be transparent and honest.
RCH medical director Dr. Edgar Pizarras in an interview over “Newsmakers” radio program anchored by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and son Chandymar Batoy, said that the RCH hospital management chose to tell the real score of the patient and to be transparent with the condition of the patient to the public.
In effect, RCH gained the trust and confidence of the public in relation to what happened almost two weeks ago.
It can be recalled that RCH healthworkers who had contact with the 17-year-old lass from Tubigon who tested positive for viral infection via the rapid antibody test were immediately put on quarantine.
Last Friday, medical director Pizarras of RCH announced over the same radio interview that the 16 health workers of the hospital, including the medical director, were released from quarantine following the negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test of the 17-year-old lass from Tubigon who had appendectomy done in RCH.
Some comments of netizens re RCH’s gesture of transparency were expressed openly on facebook. Netizen Lans Marquisse thanked RCH for being transparent. Another netizen, Gina Mangrobang said, “Thank you so much RCH for the transparency.” Andy Reyes said, “It is good you (RCH) adopted transparency and let the people know.”
CONCERN
Pizarras said that he was really concerned about the healthworkers who were separated from their loved ones because they were placed under quarantine as a precautionary measure while waiting for the confirmatory test of the 17-year-old lady patient.
In a way, Pizarras showed heart and compassion to those who were placed under quarantine for 11 days. Pizarras said that with the experience gained from the episode, the hospital management and staff have a better understanding on how to get protected from the virus as end of the pandemic is nowhere near at this time.
Ramiro Community Hospital is being known for its thrust of “Medical and Healthcare Services you can trust“. It evolved from the frontier practice of Dr. Luther Z. Ramiro who first came to Bohol in 1954 from his native Cagayan de Oro.
He joined the Graham Memorial Hospital as a resident physician honing his God-given gift of service in treating the sick. When the Memorial Hospital folded in 1959, he joined the practice of Dr. Nelson D. Rio who later founded the Bohol Medical Center (BMC) in 1960 at the Maceren Building along Gallares Street.
In 1971, Dr. Luther and his wife, Dinah Lumain-Ramiro, took over the reins of BMC. Mrs. Ramiro had to give up her teaching career to work full time in the hospital. Mrs. Ramiro later specialized in hospital administration and took up several courses which included personnel management, finance & accounting, medical records management, waste management & housekeeping.
