Gov. Arthur Yap wants the police to conduct a deeper probe on the drug situation in the province to unearth, if there are any, more illegal drug users and pushers following the more than P40 million drug bust that happened early this week.
Yap’s statement was issued during a press conference at the Capitol on Wednesday (May 27, 2020).
The governor said that he has a lot of questions regarding the real drug situation in the province, especially in relation to the recent drug bust.
Moreover, the governor said that he has plenty of questions regarding the drug trade considering the province is under general community quarantine.
Meanwhile, Yap commended the efforts of the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for their latest achievement in the fight against drugs.
According to acting police provincial director Col. Joselito Clarito, the recent drug haul is the biggest in Bohol’s history.
On the other hand, Clarito told the Bohol Tribune that the police are working on bigger drug haul focusing on the sources of drugs following the recent huge drug bust.
With the information obtained from the suspects, the police are moving towards curbing the entry of drugs into the province.
