Piezas clears himself on budget issue

Clarin Vice Mayor Allen Rey Piezas airs his side on the issue involving the town’s coffers.

In a Facebook post dated May 31, 2020, Piezas said that he had to break his silence and say his piece on social media, a venue where he has not been that active.

He said, “There is a continued effort to destroy me and misinform the public that I wasted the Government’s money during my time (as mayor).”

He wants to tell the public that, “There were a lot of money left during my term to be used by the present administration.”

He explained that, “Realignment means there is already a budget amount available to fund a certain project or program.”

He added that, “When the new administration came in they requested for a realignment for another purpose and without hesitation the SB (Sangguniang Bayan) approved the request as our (SB) gesture of support to the Mayor.”

Piezas, the former Clarin mayor continued by saying, ”The food voucher system which the present administration was utilizing amounted to P2.6 million, which were distributed to the 6,200 plus families in Clarin came from the savings under the DRRM (Disaster Risk Reduction and Management) fund during my administration . Therefore it is not true that I wasted the Government’s money during my time. In fact, there is still another P2M  left that can be utilized for Covid-19 measures of (or) if any form of calamity hits our town. I just hope this will all their allegations.”

To prove his point, Piezas attached copies of the resolutions on his Facebook post.

The current mayor of Clarin is Eugene Ibarra.
