1 LSI isolated in Sagbayan after testing positive for IgM, 6 other LSIs test positive for IgG

One (1) person who is a locally stranded individual (LSI) and who is currently under quarantine in Sagbayan tests positive IgM as six (6) other LSIs test positive for IgG all using the rapid antibody test.

In a telephone interview on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez. Capitol spokesperson for Covid-related matters, told The Bohol Tribune that the lobe LSI who is IgM positive has been isolated away from other LSIs, but still staying in the quarantine facility of Sagbayan town.

According to Lopez, those LSIs who tested positive for IgG stay under quarantine in Sagbayan.

Moreover, he said those who tested positive in the rapid antibody test, are on their second day of quarantine.

The infection status of the seven (7) LSIs was discovered as the local government authorities of Sagbayan conducted a rapid test on newly-arrived LSIs, Lopez said.

He explained that a person who tests positive for IgM, means there is an active viral infection, but not necessarily the virus causing Covid.

The virus causing Covid is called the SARS-CoV-2.

Lopez added that a person who tests positive for IgG means that he or she is recovering from a past viral infection that started three weeks ago, thus producing antibodies against a virus, and now fully recovered from the viral infection.

However, the test cannot determine if the viral infection is caused by the SARS-CoV-2.

The spokesperson also said that all 7 LSIs are asymptomatic. He added that no reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test will be conducted to those who tested positive for IgM and IgG unless they exhibit Covid-related symptoms.

Medical staff in the quarantine facility will observe the one with IgM result and will be tested again using rapid antibody test on the 7th day of quarantine, Lopez bared.
