A Prayer for Bohol

Heavenly Father, we come to you as our ultimate source of hope, love, and protection.

In these trying times, protect our dear province of Bohol from the scourge of COVID-19. We are anxious about what our future holds. We are scared that this disease may cause some families to lose their loved ones without even saying goodbye. We fear that our health care system in the province will be overburdened with sick people who may be laboring with pain and emotional suffering. We are deeply concerned of those who are at the frontline in the battleground. We endure the birthing pains of a brewing local and global recession as businesses closed worldwide. We have seen a multitude of people who have lost their jobs and their families who are suffering from hunger.

Now that COVID-19 is here and has started to steal a life from their loved ones, we have never been as anxious and fearful before as we are today. We earnestly pray, dear Lord, that you envelope us with your love and protection as we fight face-to-face with the disease that plagues us.

Guide our national and local government officials so that their policies and actions may all serve thy Holy Name, the welfare of the Boholanos, and the country.

Bless our Governor with your infinite wisdom and loving care as he takes the helm of the province in this battle that we have never fought before. Grant him, Lord, the solid support of all the local officials and the Boholano people even as we pray that you enlighten us to set aside our past and present bickering due to differences in religious and political beliefs.

Equip our province, dear Lord, with the necessary tools and facilities to reveal the presence of our unseen enemy and deliver us away from its tentacles of death and suffering. We ask you to guide our doctors, nurses, and specialists as they come to the aid of those with medical needs.

As we kneel to acknowledge our unworthiness of your loving grace, we ask you to temper our arrogance with humility and to accept that it is only your abundant grace that can lead us home to you, safe and sound. Amen. – By Atty. Greg Borja Austral, CPA
