LGU-Tagbilaran gives more sacks of rice

The local government unit (LGU) of Tagbilaran is giving each residential house, properly registered boarding house (not per boarder), and apartment unit 25 kgs. of rice to be delivered right at the doorstep – the 4th wave of relief operations of the city.

This was bared through a report from the city government, yesterday, Saturday, June 13, 2020.

In the said report, City Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap II, together with the members of the Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP), pushed for the fourth wave of relief operations.

The mayor and the members of the city council saw the need to extend relief assistance especially to Tagbilaranons who were displaced from their sources of livelihood due to the Covid pandemic, the same report said.

“This pandemic has resulted to families being displaced from their jobs and from their businesses. We want to extend assistance in any way we can. A sack of rice (25 kgs.) would definitely go a long way in the sustenance of each family in Tagbilaran. We have been thinking of various ways to alleviate the difficulty experienced during this crisis. By standing together, we can overcome this pandemic and move forward,” Mayor Yap said.

The smooth working relationship between the Executive and the Legislative branches in the city LGU has definitely blessed the Tagbilaranons, the city hall report said.

Mayor Yap and the SP are working together for the supplemental budget presented by City Budget Officer, Marysol Perocho.

According to reports, city funds were also used to increase the budget for the procurement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other important medical supplies needed for the city’s Covid response.

Mayor Yap is thankful to the proactive synergy between the Executive and Legislative, branches in the city government, the reports said.

“The 100% support we received from the 14th Sangguniang Panlungsod is giving us a valuable headway to strengthen our stance against the threat of COVID-19. Their trust in the programs which we have planned is not only a manifestation of their dedication to serve the people, but also shows their commitment to a meaningful and shared governance”, Mayor Yap concluded.
