Calape mayor Nelson Yu is announcing that all close contacts of the 89 yr. old Covid-positive man from Calape are all negative of any infection following the release of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
The mayor revealed the results via a social media post on today, Wednesday, June 17, 2020.
In his statement, Yu said, “Mapasalamaton nga akong ipahibalo sa tanan nga nadawat na nato ang resulta sa PCR test sa atong gi quarantine nga mga close contacts niadtong gikataho nga nag positibo sa COVID 19 nga taga barangay Lawis ning atong lungsod sa Calape.“
Mayor Yu added, “Basi sa resulta sa swab test, kon PCR test NEGATIBO tanan ang mga close contacts nga atong na identify diri sa atong lungsod human sa gihimo nga imbestigasyon ug contact tracing.”
Moreover, the mayor said, “Nagpabilin gihapong COVID FREE ang lungsod sa Calape. Bisan paman niini, padayon gihapon kitang mag amping pina-agi sa pag sunod sa mga protocols sama sa social distancing, wearing of face mask, pag hugas sa kamot, ug labaw sa tanan likayan ang pag tapok tapok. Magpabilin sa balay ug walay importanting lakaw.”
In Wednesday’s virtual presser, Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, Capitol spokesperson on Covid-related matters confirmed the news about the negative results of Calape patient’s close contacts.
He said all 10 close contacts of the Covid-positive patient are all negative based on the PCR test.
It can be remembered that the 89-year old man from Calape was admitted at the Gov, Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) on May 25, 2020 but expired on the next day. He was admitted due to severe acute respiratory infection (SARI).
His PCR test showed a positive result.
The patient from Calape is considered as the first Covid-related death in Bohol and one of two first documented local transmission case of the Covid infection in the province.
