PHO releases statistics update on Bohol Covid cases

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) releases an updated Covid case statistics involving Boholanos showing there are seven (7) active cases and seven (7) recovered cases with one (1) death or a total of 15 Covid positive cases.

Based on the statistics, there are 7 active Covid cases in Bohol and all are in isolation and reportedly asymptomatic.

The same report bares that there are three (3) locally stranded individuals (LSIs) in Tagbilaran City who are infected with the virus causing Covid.

Moreover, the same report reveals that there is two (2) Covid positive cases: one in Candijay and another in Sagbayan. These two cases involve LSIs.

Currently, two (2) medical workers who had a close contact with a former Covid-positive patient from Dao district of Tagbilaran tested positive of Covid infection.

The total active cases in Bohol is 7, the statistics said.

In the same report, it was stated that there are 7 persons who used to be Covid infected but have already tested NEGATIVE of the virus via the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.

Here is the summary:
The first recovered patient is a 65-year-old Chinese woman who visited Bohol in January 2020.

Then, there were two (2) overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who tested positive for Covid but have recovered and are already back home to their respective families.

In addition, there were three medical workers from Gov, Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) who have also recovered from the infection.

The latest recovered patient is the 65-year-old woman from Barangay Dao, Tagbilaran City who turned out to be negative of any Covid infection in the repeat PCR.

The PHO statistics also said that there is one Covid-related death involving an 89-year-old man from Calape. This patient expired a day after he was admitted at the GCGMH for severe acute respiratory infection (SARI).

All Covid cases in Bohol were confirmed via PCR tests.

The Bohol Tribune did not include the persons who tested positive for Covid 19 via the rapid antibody test. The rapid antibody test according to health experts is not a reliable diagnostic tool.

The medical experts agree that the PCR test is the “gold standard“ when detecting the presence of the virus causing Covid.
