Mayor Yap releases COVID-19 updates

The Tagbilaran City Government believes that handling this pandemic has been a challenge for all local government units and providing timely information is helpful in raising health literacy among the populace.

City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA” Yap has been on his feet providing timely information to the people through his Facebook Page.

Mayor Yap is convinced that people who are informed will be more socially responsible to change their unsafe behavior, “If people are provided with valid reasons they can think carefully about the possible outcomes of their actions, and they will act responsibly and help stop the spread of the virus. When citizens are health literate, they can understand the severity of a situation and can understand safety measures to follow for themselves and others”, Mayor Yap said.

As of morning of 10:30 in the morning of June 20, 2020, Mayor Baba reported 3 active cases, 3 fully recovered, and no deaths recorded for the city.

In addition, Mayor Baba bared that the city has conducted 597 PCR tests and 921 rapid tests. Although PCR testing is not required for Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs), the City Government allocated funds to provide free PCR testing to all incoming Tagbilaranons to ensure that local transmission will be avoided. More so, home quarantine is discouraged, so that the City Health Office could strictly monitor their status of Tagbilaranons concerned.

Aside from the above updates, Mayor Yap constantly provides salient points of the Executive Orders issued by Gov. Arthur Yap. The latest among the Eos of the governor is EO 31 which outlines that the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) in Bohol is extended until June 30. The following points were emphasized to support EO 31:
