Home quarantine option scrapped following mayors meeting with Guv

(Joint report from DCR, DSA, GAB)

The home quarantine option is scrapped and will no longer be used moving forward following the meeting among the Bohol mayors and Gov. Arthur Yap.

The meeting took place on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at a local resort in Tagbilaran City.

Based on reports received by The Bohol Tribune, it was learned that aside from Yap, who is the chairman of the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (B-IATF), other personalities who attended the meeting were the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Tagbilaran registrar Vicente Gador, and Philippine National Police (PNP) provincial director Col. Joselito Clarito.

According to reports, the mayors reached a consensus that the home quarantine option will no longer be used and the locally stranded individuals (LSIs) will be placed in local government unit (LGU)-managed quarantine facilities.

The same reports say that the mayors have realized the risk of home quarantine that the LSIs may not follow the health protocols, which may lead to the spread of the virus that causes the Covid.

The same reports reveal that the mayors have the option to use school buildings as quarantine facilities in addition to existing facilities.

The LGUs may use the school buildings until August 24, 2020, which is the scheduled opening of classes, the report added.

Meantime, Maribojoc mayor Romulo Manuta said the LGU has stopped using the home quarantine option.

In a text message to The Bohol Tribune, Manuta confirmed that there will be no incoming LSI that will be placed in home quarantine moving forward.

According to reports the LGU decided to stop using the home quarantine option following the meeting of the Maribojoc Covid Task Force last Monday.
