Salintubig water project is bringing water supply to a barangay in Trinidad town, which is realized under the Accessible, Reliable and Timely (ART) Water for All program.
Gov. Arthur Yap inaugurated the first Salintubig project in barangay Guinobatan, Trinidad town on Thursday, June 25, 2020.
According to a report from the Capitol, Salintubig is a coin-operated water supply system.
In this coin-assisted system, one will just have to insert P5 in the machine and the water that will flow can fill up two containers. One container has the capacity of 20 liters of water, the Capitol report said.
The launch in a Trinidad barangay is only the start, as other barangays in the town will also be having their own Salintubig water supply system, the same report said.
Other Trinidad barangays that will have their own Salintubig water supply system are La Union, Kinan-oan, Tagum Norte, Sto. Tomas, Hinlayagan Ilaud and Banlasan.
The Capitol report said, that during the launch of Salintubig in Trinidad, the governor was with Trinidad Mayor Judith Cajes, Vice-Mayor Manuel Garcia, former Second District congressman Roberto Cajes, Bohol Environment Management Office (BEMO) Head Jovencia Ganub, Guinobatan Barangay Captain Esteban Ibaoc and the 19 other barangay captains of Trinidad town.
The governor noted that “if we are going to evaluate the total water resources of Bohol, the surface water resource (those that need no drilling)- -the open water sources such as streams and rivers, Bohol has overcapacity in terms of water”.
And, if we develop all our water resources, only 20 percent can be utilized, he added.
In his visits to the various barangays before he became governor, Yap noticed that the common problem in far-flung areas is water supply, the Capitol report said.
With this development, Yap decided that if he would be given a chance to become governor of Bohol, water would be a major project in his administration.
The governor said that the people may still survive, though with less convenience, without roads: but the people cannot live without water.
The Capitol report said that the water projects will also be a revenue-generating venture for the barangays and the municipalities. (with reports from Primer)
