Tagbilaran City Health Office (CHO) is saying that the city is planning to have its own molecular laboratory.
According to the city CHO, this is still in the planning stage.
The CHO head Dr. Jeia Pondoc said that putting a molecular lab is unlike building an ordinary medical laboratory.
Pondoc said there is a need to determine where the lab would be placed for biosecurity purposes.
The city government has put a premium on testing as a precautionary measure, based on the report from the City Media Bureau.
The same report said that locally stranded individuals (LSIs) are subjected to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) even if they are asymptomatic.
