(Joint report from DCR, DSA, GAB)
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP)
approves the so-called Centenarian ordinance, which seeks to grant privileges and benefits to Boholanos who are able to reach 100 years old.
The approved proposed ordinance is authored by Board Member Lucille Lagunay, who is the chairperson of the Committee on Social Services at the SP.
To qualify, the centenarian should be living in Bohol for at least five (5) years before reaching the 100th year anniversary, Lagunay added.
Aside from the cash gift, the SP will also pass a resolution to recognize the milestone in the centenarian’s life.
Moreover, the resolution will be printed in a plaque of recognition that will be given to the centenarian.
Lagunay said that this year, there are 36 Boholanos that will be turning 100 years old. About 11 persons who will turn 100 years old are from the first district, nine (9) persons are from the second district, and 16 persons are from the third district.
The ordinance will take effect on January 1, 2021, as the budget of the provincial government is allocated for the province’s Covid response.
