Loay fisherman drowns, dies

A fisherman drowns and dies off the waters of Loay town, according to police reports.

Loay chief of police, Capt, Geronimo Conarco said the victim is identified as Hernani Caingoy, a crew of Jaylord Fishing Carrier, of Loyongbonbon, Opol, Misamis Oriental.

The same reports say the victim was under the influence of liquor when the incident happened on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at around 3:50 pm. The victim dived into the seas to retrieve an object that fell into the water.

As he came out of the water, he hit his head on a hard object which caused him to lose consciousness leading to drowning, reports said.

The police and the local disaster risk reduction and management council rescued the victim, reports said.
