A fossil of the tooth of a megalodon was found in Maribojoc town, according to the National Museum.
The newly discovered fossil is the second confirmed fossilized tooth of the megalodon found in the town, Inquirer.net reports.
According to report, the fossil was found in barangay Jandig, an inland barangay in Maribojoc.
Reports added that the fossilized megalodon tooth was found by a certain Christian Gio Bangalao who donated to item to the National Museum ot the Philippines on May 28, 2020.
A megalodon is an extinct type of shark that lived approximately 23 to 3.6 million years ago, according to experts.
The name megalodon literally means “big tooth” and classified to be a member of the extinct Otodontidae family, which diverged from the great white shark, the experts added.
