The captured suspected New People’s Army (NPA) member is reportedly facing a three (3) pending rape cases, the report from the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) says.
Same PIA report bares that authorities arrested a certain Crisologo Guimaras, 21, of barangay Bingag, Dauis, who is a suspected NPA rebel.
In the report, the captured suspected NPA rebel has three (3) pending rape cases filed before the sala of Judge Leo Moises Lison of the Regional Trial Court branch 3 in Tagbilaran City on June 25, 2015.
Guimaras said that in order to evade trial for his rape charges, he escaped to Luzon in 2015.
In 2018, he returned to Bohol. Still afraid to face the rape charges in court, Guimaras decided to join the NPA and was trained in a far-flung area in Inabanga, the PIA report bared.
In a tactical Interrogation conducted by authorities, Guimaras admitted that he was among the armed men who engaged in a clash with members of the Philippine Army on Friday, June 26, 2020, according to the PIA report.
He added that he is a regular member of the group of rebels led by suspected NPA leader Domingo Compoc, also known as Commander Cobra, the same report added.
He was arrested by members of the Sevilla police station hours after a firefight happened between suspected NPA insurgents and the 47th Infantry Battalion (IB).
The firefight happened last June 26, 2020 at barangay Bayawahan in Sevilla town, according to reports.
Guimaras tried to pass through a checkpoint wearing an Army t-shirt but failed in his attempt to escape the authorities as he was arrested.
According to reports, authorities said that authorities Guimaras allegedly had an improvised explosive device, and a rifle grenade.
On top of his three (3) rape cases, Guimaras faces additional charges of illegal possession of explosives, the PIA report says.
The PIA report also mentioned the remarks of 1Lt. Elma Grace Remonde-Arbulencia, the civil military officer of the 47th IB, that the NPA would often convince people that they are the ones who are bringing genuine justice but have shown to be coddlers of a person who is evading justice all this time.
The NPAs are out to recruit as many persons as possible to join their ranks not caring about the criminal background of their new recruits, the same report says.
