
A businessman is reportedly arrested by a team composed of personnel from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Tagbilaran police for alleged violation of the tax laws on Monday, July 6, 2020, a spot report from the police says.
The police spot report says that a certain Mario Elny Tare, 41, of Purok 5, barangay Tabalong, Dauis was arrested in an operation conducted by CIDG and Tagbilaran police station operatives.
Moreover, the suspect was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant dated June 26, 2020, issued by Judge Erwin Ucat of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) Judicial Region 7, branch 3 .
The spot report did not mention the business activities the suspect is engaged with, but a source told The Bohol Tribune said that the accused is engaged in a multi-level marketing business, sound system rental, and a restaurant located at Dauis town.
The same spot report said the suspect is being accused of violation of section 257 (b) (5) in relation to section 257 (b) (8) of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997 (NIRC), or tax evasion.
He is being accused of violation of Sec. 264 (aj of the NIRC, for failure to issue receipts, the same reports said.
The spot report also said that the suspect was able to post bail of P 35,000 and P24,000 for the two (2) cases of alleged violation of the tax laws.
The spot report did not mention about the facts of the cases being charged against the suspect.
