Tagbilaran City mayor John Geesnell Yap II in a Facebook post bares that a Tagbilaran resident who flew to Manila, last July 6, 2020, allegedly got tested via polymersse chain reaction (PCR) upon arrival there and the result turned out to be positive.

The mayor gave his statement in a post in his official and verified Facebook page on Thursday, July 9, 2020.

The mayor, acting on the side of caution, placed the family of the traveler under home quarantine. The family resides in purok 1, barangay Dampas, the mayor added.

Yap said the family members were subjected to a rapid antibody test and the results were negative.

The mayor further said in his post that aside from the rapid antibody test, the whole family will be subjected to PCR tests.

At the same time, contact tracing activities have been initiated, the mayor bared in his post on Facebook.

He told the public to wait for the results of the PCR test, which is forthcoming.

Yap chided insinuations that spread through messenger that there is an alleged effort by the government to hide the incident.
