A Baclayon resident is thankful for the intervention facilitated by the provincial government regarding the predicament of his son who is a locally stranded individual (LSI) stranded in Region 8.
Resituto “Jun” Gatal Jr., a staffer at the Baclayon town Treasurer’s Office, expresses his thanks to the provincial government especially, Gov Yap through Kevin Damalerio.
His son, who is stranded as an LSI, may now proceed and travel back to Bohol.
It can be remembered that Gatal sought help regarding his son who was barred from traveling from Bato, Leyte (Region 8) to Ubay (Region7).
The Baclayon resident aired his problem over the program “Newsmakers ug Uban Pa” hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Gloria Leodivica Ines-Araneta on Monday, July 6, 2020.
Batoy connected Gatal with Capitol’s information head Kevin Damalerio to solve the problem that impacted Gatal’s son.
To remember, until broadcast time, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) imposed a ban on inter-regional travel of LSIs among Regions 6,7,8 and Caraga.
The PCG has just lifted the restriction and now it allows the travel of LSIs between the said regions.
The lifting of the travel ban has allowed Gatal’s son to travel back to Bohol.
In the interview, Gatal said that his son went to Region 8 for business but got stuck there following the lockdown due to the community quarantine imposed in Bohol. As soon as LSIs are allowed to return, Gatal’s son applied for the necessary papers so the latter can return to Bohol.
Even if Gatal’s son has all the necessary documents, he was barred from traveling due to the ban imposed by the PCG.
The PCG lifted its ban on inter-regional travel on July 8, 2020, according to the agency’s memorandum sent to different local government units (LGU).
