21 “illegal” Badjaos “pushed” back to Palawan

It will be a trip back to Palawan for 21 Badjaos who illegally entered Bohol. This is the decision of authorities regarding the alleged “illegal” entry of Badjaos to Bohol. On Saturday. July 11, 2020.

The same reports say that a group comprising of 21 Badjaos from Palawan illegally entered Bohol on Friday, July 10, 2020 and was intercepted by the elements of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) of Western Bohol. The group tried to enter Bohol via barangay Totolan in Dauis.

The Badjaos, the report contined, underwent proper police booking procedures and their vital signs were taken by a midwife of the town. The group was tightly guarded to prevent any contact with the local populace, the report said.

PCG Western Bohol’s Petty Officer 1 Paul Vincent Yu confirmed to The Bohol Tribune the incident involving the alleged illegal entry of the group of Badjaos into Dauis.

Yu said that the 21 Badjaos were divided into two (2) smaller groups with each group occupying a pumpboat with a voyage originating from Palawan and arriving here in Bohol on Friday afternoon.

Reports also say that the local government unit (LGU) of Dauis refused the Badjaos entry into the town for lack of proper documentation and coordination.

Before the Badjaos left back for Palawan, the PCG gave them food and supplies for their provision on their way back to Palawan, the same reports said.

This is not the first time a group of Badjaos illegally entered Bohol. Last May 2020, about nine (9) Badjaos also did the same thing but the group was subjected to a 14-day quarantine. (Dave Charles Responte)
