At least seven (7) persons are arrested by Tubigon police for illegal cockfight following a raid conducted in barangay Macaas. The raid happened on Saturday, July 11, 2020.
According to the spot report provided by the Tubigon police station, the police identified the seven (7) suspects as Samson Bersamina, 40, married, resident of Brgy Macaas, Tubigon, Bohol; Jeriel Dela Victoria, 21, single, resident of Brgy Potohan, Tubigon, Bohol; Julito Asubar, 47, married, resident of Brgy Potohan, Tubigon, Bohol; Joseph Nacua, 30, single, resident of Brgy Potohan, Tubigon, Bohol; Manuel Veloso, 49, married, resident of Brgy Mandaug, Calape, Bohol; Francis Boligao, 34, single, a resident of Brgy. Potohan, Tubigon, Bohol; and Roni Montuya, 34, married, a resident of Brgy. Centro, Tubigon, Bohol.
According to the spot report, the crime happened at Brgy. Macaas at around 9 am on Saturday.
The same report says that personnel from the Tubigon police station with members of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-7 responded to a call by a concerned citizen that an illegal cockfight was happening in the said barangay.
The report says that the police caught the cockfighting afficionados placing their bets in the illegal cockfight with some persons in the area handling fighting cocks with gaff.
As the cockfight was about to start, one of the cockfight afficionados sensed the presence of police personnel and shouted “pulis” to alert others in the area.
The same report says upon learning that there were police officers in their midst, the afficionados scampered to escape in different directions.
The operating team managed to corner the seven (7) suspects where two (2) were holding fighting cocks at the time of the arrest, while the five (5) others were monitored by the police placing their bets, the spot report bares.
The arrested persons were brought to the Tubigon police station as proper charges will be filed against the suspects.
Last week, a similar illegal cockfight was also discovered by the police in Brgy. liijan Norte, Tubigon where five (5) persons were arrested and already facing charges, reports said.
