Unidentified gunmen kill Buenavista resident

Unidentified gunmen kill a Buenavista resident as the police are now engaged in investigating the matter surrounding the incident, reports say.

The incident happened on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at barangay Lapacan Sur, Buenavista town, the same report says.

According to the report furnished to The Bohol Tribune on Monday, July 13, 2020, the victim is identified as Vicente Mencede, 37, of barangay Lapacan Sur, Buenavista.

Initial investigation revealed that there are four (4) suspects to the crime: two (2) suspects riding one motorcycle and the other two (2) suspects riding another motorcycle.

Reports say that the motor-riding suspects stopped in front of the victim who was gathering firewood prior to the shooting.

One of the suspects aimed his firearm at the victim, prompting the latter to scamper away.

The suspects then chased the victim. The suspects were able to corner the victim, the report narrates.

Moreover, one of the suspects shouted “patyon ning tanan mga kawatan” prior to the shooting, the report adds.

The gunmen then opened fire on the victim. The victim sustained gunshot wounds on the head and on the shoulder, the report bares.

The suspects, who were wearing face masks, than escaped from the crime scene towards an unknown location.

The police report indicates that the victim was allegedly involved in a burglary in the past, which may have a connection with the shooting incident.

The police are now conducting follow-up investigation related to the shooting incident.
