Gov. Arthur Yap reveals that the containerized polymerase chain reaction (PCR) laboratory is at the South Harbor in Manila and will be shipped shortly and expected to arrive in Bohol by this weekend.
The governor bares the information in a radio interview on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 over “Newsmakers ug Uban Pa” hosted by Ardy Araneta Batoy and Chandymar Batoy.
The PCR laboratory is worth a little over P20 million, according to provincial administrator Kathyrin Pioquinto.
He said that the PCR laboratory will make Bohol less reliant on Cebu for testing, which has become a problem due to delays in the release of the reports.
Yap said that the PCR laboratory is only the first as the provincial government is looking to procure several similar laboratories to be stationed in major gateways of the province.
Yap has earlier said that a PCR laboratory network is needed before reopening Bohol to visitors as well as a robust contact tracing system.
Furthermore, Yap said once the PCR laboratory is operational, he is looking at giving minors one (1) more day to break their curfew and be able to engage in activities outside their respective houses.
The containerized PCR laboratory is mobile, which means that it can be moved from one (1) location to another.
