Pandanon Island has entered a new era, as, for the first time, the residents of the island gain access to potable water. Thanks to a desalination plant that converts salty seawater into potable water.
This is the first time that an island is gaining access to potable water via a desalination plant, according to a Capitol report released on Tuesday, July 14, 2020.
Gov. Arthur Yap personally visited Pandanon Island on Tuesday to inaugurate the desalination plant.
The island is under the jurisdiction of Getafe town, which is under the second district of the province.
Yap was joined by Getafe mayor Casey Shaun Camacho as they inaugurate the desalination plant that will provide potable water to residents of the island.
The installation of the desalination plant helps solve the age-old problem of island residents of lack of access to water.
Water supply access is one of the key projects pushed by the Yap administration.
It can be remembered that in the governor’s inauguration last July 2019, the governor pushed for easier water supply access as a key objective in his governance platform.
He reiterated this back in October 2019, in his 100th day of service address to the Boholanos.
