Reports say illegal gambling suspects allegedly operating a “Peryahan ng Bayan” in Tagbilaran were arrested by elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and by other police units in the province and in the city.
The operation was conducted on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, according to a police report.
The same report said that the operation transpired at the Crabhouse Compound, in barangay Mansasa, Tagbilaran City, at around 11:10 am.
The police report provided to The Bohol Tribune by the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) says the suspects are identified as Melandro Yamaro, 52, of barangay Taloto, Tagbilaran City; Ramses Jansen Namoc, 25, of barangay Ubujan, Tagbilaran City: and Mellen Rose Yamano, 20, of barangay Taloto, Tagbilaran City.
According to the same report the raid was conducted by a composite team composed of police personnel from the Provincial Mobile Force Company, led by Lt. Col. Barnard Dasugo, personnel from the CIDG, and Tagbilaran City police station.
The report bares that the raid was the result of complaints from the public received by the police. The composite team conducted a raid on an alleged illegal numbers game at the said time and place. The raid resulted in the arrest of the said suspects.
The same report reveals that the police were able to seize a draw machine, 13 pieces of pingpong balls of assorted color, a cellular phone, and other alleged illegal gambling paraphernalia.
The suspects were brought to CIDG Bohol for booking and documentation.
A source told The Bohol Tribune that another person is allegedly behind the illegal gambling operation but those name is withheld pending results of a thorough investigation.
However, the operator behind the illegal numbers game was not mentioned in the official police spot report.
Last Monday, Police Regional Office 7 chief Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro ordered BPPO chief Col. Joselito Clarito to investigate the presence of “Peryahan ng Bayan: in Bohol and to lead a crackdown on the said illegal gambling activity.
