Remains of an alleged NPA member exhumed in Batuan

The remains of an alleged member of the New People’s Army (NPA) is reportedly exhumed by the military in the purported rebel’s camp in Batuan.

A team from the 47th Infantry Battalion in coordination with members of the Philippine National Police, barangay officials and the media exhumed the remains of an alleged male NPA member in sitio Tubod Suso, barangay Rizal, Batuan town on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 around 4 pm.

According to 1st Lt. Elma Grace Remonde, the remains are identified and these remains belong to a certain Ka Willie, 43, from Negros Island.

Ka Willie is a vice squad leader 3 of the NPA here in Bohol.

It was learned that Ka Willie might have committed suicide. There is also the possibility that the NPA rebel might have been killed by his comrades.

The NPA rebel died on August 8, 2019, reports say.

The information about the dead NPA was obtained from a captured NPA rebel, Crisologo Guimaras, who was captured in Sevilla.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives processed the remains. The body of the NPA rebel was given a proper burial.
