Gov. Arthur Yap bares that the Department of Health (DOH) informed him that there are 13 new Covid positive cases. The governor made the announcement in a statement released to the media and posted on Facebook on July 17, 2020, Friday.

In the statement, the govenor said that six (6) new Covid positive cases are from Tagbilaran, two (2) cases are from Tubigon, 2 cases are from Ubay, one (1) case from Alicia, 1 from Carmen, and 1 from Danao who died while being admitted at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH).

Yap said the respective mayors have been informed and the names of those infected with Covid are being verified. He also said that the provincial government is awaiting updates from the local chief executives concerned.

The single case from Danao who died at the GCGMH was admitted in the hospital on July 7, 2020. The patient, reportedly had community-acquired pneumonia and was managed as a severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) patient. The patient died on the eighth day of admission, the governor said.

Yap said that the provincial government is awaiting updates from the local government unit (LGU) of Danao.

The Provincial Health Office is now coordinating with the various Municipal Health Officers of the concerned LGUs for contact tracing activities.
