He is definite with his ambitions,
Setting his directions with precision,
Shaping his future here and abroad,
Always honing hi strides on the road.
Born on August 1, 1958, our man of the week is a lumad Tagbilaranon, who presently resides at barangay San Isidro, Tagbilaran City.
He spent his elementary years at San Isidro Elementary School and proceeded to DWC-T or Divine Word College of Tagbilaran (now Holy Name University – HNU) for his secondary education where he graduated in 1975.
He hurdled the course, Bachelor of Arts in Economics also at DWC-T, the school that gave him the responsibility of Corps Commander for the ROTC Unit 1979. This responsibility inspired him to hone himself more for MS 43 at Class 80 of the ARESCOM, at Camp Lapu-Lapu, Lahug, Cebu City.
Not contented, he went to take up the Development Legislation Enhancement Course (DLEC) at the University of the Philippines in Quezon City.
He saw his directions leading to serving the people in the community as legislator and mediator. This is one of the main reasons he took up more training on: The Rule of Law, The Conduct of Court-Annexed Mediation Proceedings, The Procurement Law of the Philippines (R.A. 9185), Revised Guidelines for Continuous Trial of Criminal Cases Conducted by PHILJA (in Cebu City) and a Refresher/Advanee Course for Court-Annexed Mediators.
A multi-awarded person, this man received the following (among others) to substantiate his feat in the field where he belongs:
- Regional finalist in the Search for Outstanding Barangay Official of the Year where he was chosen as one of the Ten Outstanding Barangay Officials of the Year (TOBOY) in 2015 for Region VII
- Regional finalist for the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Award (LTIA) for Region VII
- ROTC Leadership Medal
- Leadership certificate from DWC-T (now HNU) Administration
His first touch of a job was as ROTC Tactical Officer & Cat-I Commandant of a big school. Then, he ventured into teaching at the High School & College Departments of the Sacred Heart Academy of Loon, Bohol and at BIT Tagbilaran, respectively.
His determination brought him to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (K.S.A.), specifically in Jeddah where he was assigned as a civilian security officer at the Kin Abdulaziz International Airport, also in Jeddah, K.S.A. His promotion was not surprising in the said area where he became Office Assistant II as he was spotted for his skill by the airport’s top officers. More blessings came in for him when he was assigned to work, not only at the Jeddah Inernational Airport but also at Brunei Darussalam, His big break was given to him abroad when he became Branch Manager of a big Cargo Company at Jeddah, K.S.A.
Sensing that he was able to gain enough strength from his experience abroad, he came back to Bohol and paved his way in public service. He became barangay kagawad of Barangay San Isidro, Tagbilaran City. From here, there was not stopping anymore. He had a chance to serve as BN-S3 1st Bohol (RRBN), Camp Bernido, Dao, Tagbilaran City. He is known in his community as a deeply religious man being a lay liturgical minister in the parish church of his own barangay. He is a respected and accredited court-annexed mediator in the Philippine Judicial Academy of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, Philippine Mediation Center, Tagbilaran City. His integrity in holding financial matters is beyond question especially with his experience as auditor of the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas, Bohol Chapter.
His legislative skills are well proven with his present position as President of the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas, Tagbilaran City Chapter and as ex-officio city councilor of the City of Tagbilaran.
Most of all, his leadership skills are well admired by the people of Tagbilaran who are always looking up to him and the way he delivers his services to the people.
Meet our ma of the week, City Councilor FAUSTO SEBANDAL BUDLONG of #0141 R. ALFARERO ST., PUROK 6, BRGY. SAN ISIDRO, TAGBILARAN CITY.
