Simple plans set for Bohol Day celebration

Simple plans are set for this year’s celebration of the 166th Bohol Day this Wednesday, July 22, 2020.

Gov. Arthur Yap bared the province’s plan to celebrate Bohol Day, which is a huge departure from the previous celebrations due to the health protocols related to the Covid pandemic.

He revealed the plans during the media interaction on Friday, July 17, 2020.

One of the highlights of the Bohol Day celebration is the governor’s State of the Province Address (SOPA).

He said that there will be no elaborate celebration and the SOPA will be delivered via a video presentation that will be viewed by Boholanos on the different social media accounts of the provincial government such as the Art Yap Facebook page, the Provincial Government of Bohol Facebook page, and the Bohol TV Facebook page.

The celebration of the Sandugo Festival will be completely different this year as it would be done virtually, as the health protocols disallow the conduct of mass gatherings that may violate the rule on social distancing.

The governor said that the pandemic should not be an excuse to forget the province’s culture. Yap said that the plan is to show the rich cultural heritage of the Sandugo Festival via a video presentation.

The governor also said that the provincial government and the Bohol Arts and Culture Heritage Council (BACH) will present the Sandugo Festival 2020 virtual edition.

There will be various video productions created for the Boholanos.

The video presentation called Sandugo Festival revisited, will be streamed on Facebook at 5 pm on July 22, 2020. It will feature the story of the festival from 1989 to 2020.

By 6 pm, a virtual concert featuring the band True Faith will be streamed on Facebook, too, the governor said.

The virtual concert is sponsored by the Provincial Government in cooperation with the Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) Company, Smart Communications and Cignal TV, the governor explained.

On July 25, 2020 at 6 pm, the provincial government will show a video presentation called Sandugo Highlights and Sidelights showcasing the various events that happened during the Sandugo Festival in the past 30 years.

Moreover, on July 26, 2020, at 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm, there will be a presentation of the Bol-anong Kabilin Atong Bahandi travel videos and the presentation of the Sandugo Festival Grand Prize winners video production, showcasing the various grand prize winners of the festival in the past, respectively.
