Police arrest 3 persons for illegal “tukis”

Police reports say that three (3) persons are arrested for alleged illegal cockfighting, locally known as, “tukis” in San Miguel town.

The arrest happened on Sunday, July 19, 2020, in barangay Kagawasan, San Miguel town, reports add.

Police identified the suspects as Gilbert Persigas, 30, of purok 7, barangay Capayas, San Miguel; Anael Cuizon, 19, of purok 7, barangay San Vicente, San Miguel; and Marlon Bantilan, 34, of purok 7, barangay San Vicente, Trinidad.

According to reports, San Miguel police conducted an illegal gambling operation in the said time and place and seized one (1) live fighting cock, two (2) dead fighting cocks, alleged bet money worth P400 , and a set of gaff.

The suspects were brought to the police station for proper disposition.

Cockfighting and other betting activities are not allowed under the latest executive order issued by Gov. Arthur Yap.

Meanwhile, in a similar incident in Duero, the police were unable to arrest any suspect after conducting an anti-illegal gambling operation last Sunday.

Reports say Duero police station conducted an operation and the police saw persons allegedly conducting the illegal cockfighting activity. Upon sensing the approach of the law enforcers, the suspects scampered away and Duero police were unable to arrest anyone in connection with the illegal cockfight.

The police were able to seize two (2) live cockfighting cocks with gaffs.

The confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Duero police station.
