Gov. Arthur Yap says that there is a possibility that the province will implement a stricter community quarantine in the face of the rising number of community transmission cases in Bohol, reports say today, Tuesday, July 22, 2020.
Reports said the governor will meet with Bohol mayors tomorrow after the State of the Province Address (SOPA) to consult them on the possibility of imposing a stricter community quarantine in Bohol.
Currently, Bohol is under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ). It is a more relaxed form of general community where more businesses are being allowed to operate and even allow religious gatherings up to 50% of the venue’s capacity.
The governor said that he is willing to consider stricter measures for the safety of the majority of Boholanos.
On Monday, the governor reported that Bohol registered its sixth (6th) community transmission case. This prompted the discussion to consider imposing stricter community quarantine standard.
As this developed, the governor met with the various police chiefs in Bohol to strictly implement the protocols to prevent problems related to the Covid pandemic impact.
Last week, Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque classified Bohol as MGCQ, medium-risk where there are provisions to implement measures such as localized lockdowns as necessary.
