Gov. Arthur Yap is pushing for stricter implementation of Covid-related protocols following cases of community transmission in Bohol.
The governor released a statement on Monday, July 20, 2020, saying he has instructed the chiefs of police in the towns and the mayors to go after protocol violators and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.
He said that he wants the locally stranded individuals and overseas Filipino workers who would not coordinate with the local government unit properly to be prosecuted.
His pronouncement came after a 39-year-old man from Catigbian is the latest local resident without travel history to a place that is known to be a Covid hot spot, tested positive for Covid.
The man has been confined art the Catigbian District Hospital for at least 11 days and showing signs of recovery, according to Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, spokesperson for Covid-related matters.
Prior to the Catigbian case, a 13-year-old boy from Tagbilaran tested positive tor Covid even without travel history, as he was exposed to his cousin who happens to have also tested positive for Covid upon arrival in Manila.
Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital medical center chief Dr. Mutya Kismet Macuno confirmed that there is indeed community transmission here in Bohol.
