The town hall of San Miguel is on lockdown starting today, Thursday, July 30, 2020 until further notice, according to a Facebook post of San Miguel mayor Virgilio Mendez.
The post was published on Wednesday, July 29, 2020.
According to Mendez, the local government unit (LGU) had to resort to a drastic measure to contain the spread of the virus.
The lockdown comes after the LGU received word that a 64-year-old female died on July 22, 2020 after she was admitted at the San Miguel Hospital on July 20,2020 due to pneumonia.
Reports say that Mendez ordered the lockdown as three (3) adult children of the fatality, work in the LGU, including one (1) adult child who is a police officer.
The reports add that all of the first generation close contacts of the fatality will be subjected each to a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
The mayor also said that the first generation contacts were already subjected to the rapid antibody tests and the chemiluminescence enzyme immunoassay (CLIA) tests and all tests proved negative.
Experts say the PCR remains the “gold standard” when it comes to detecting the coronavirus disease (Covid).
The San Miguel mayor, in his post, urged the people who had close contact with the late patient’s family members to get in touch with the Municipal Health Office (MHO), especially those who are showing influenza-like symptoms.
