Tourism Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat expresses her confidence that Bohol tourism will be able to bounce back and reopen by fourth quarter of this year.
Romulo-Puyat had a chance to inspect Alona Beach today, Saturday, August 1, 2020 and see for herself the results of the rehabilitation efforts done in one of the top tourist attractions in Bohol.
This morning, she inspected Alona Beach area in barangay Tawala, Panglao town together with Interior and Local Government Sec. Eduardo Año, Gov. Arthur Yap, Panglao Mayor Leonila Montero, officials from the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
In a short interaction with the media, Puyat said that she is impressed with the way Alona Beach has been rehabilitated.
Moreover, she expressed excitement, with protocols in place, that Bohol will open its tourism industry to tourists soon.
She added that there have been inquiries from tour operators about Bohol as there are some tourists who expressed interest to visit the island soon.
Romulo-Puyat said part of the P1.2 billion World Bank loan of the national government will be used in tourism projects including rehabilitation work in Panglao town and Bohol.
On the other hand, Año, who was with Romulo-Puyat was unable to speak with reporters due to his tight schedule.
The two (2) national government officials engaged in an overnight visit here to inspect the various interventions and programs regarding Covid inspection.
