Dauis mayor gives details on new Covid positive patient

Dauis mayor Marietta “Meriam” Sunaylo bares more information on the new coronavirus disease (Covid) case in her town.

In a post on Saturday evening, August 8, 2020, Sumaylo said that the Covid-positive patient is neither a locally stranded individual (LSI) nor an overseas Filipino worker (OFW). The patient also has no travel history to an area considered as a Covid hotspot.

She added that tha patient from barangay Totola was brought to the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH), which is a Covid-focused hospital.

The mayor in a text message to The Bohol Tribune said the patient was having breathing difficulties for two(2) days and wanted to be admitted in the said hospital but was allegedly refused admission and was left to lie at the sidelines.

The mayor said in her Facebook post, the patient was “scheduled” to be brought to the Don Emilio del Valle Memorial Hospital in Ubay, but the patient declined due to the distance.

As a result, the patient went back to Totolan, while waiting for the result of his polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.

However, the patient was not allowed to return to his home, instead he was placed in the quarantine facility of the said barangay.

Moreover, the mayor said in the same social media post that contact tracing activities have started and following the positive PCR result, the said partient is now admitted at the GCGMH.
