The national Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) says motorcycle barrier is no longer needed for riders who live in the same house starting today, August 19, 2020.
The IATF on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 approved the new protocol along with other protocols in relation to motorcycle backriding or pillion-riding, the report from CNN Philippines said.
For areas under general community quarantine (GCQ), motorcycle riders who are not living in the same house need to use a barrier designed by motorcycle-hailing app Angkas.
As for riders, the backrider needs to be an authorized person outside of residence, but the driver does need to be. According to the protocol, both riders need to wear a face mask and a full-faced helmet.
Moreover, according to the Joint Task Force Covid Shield, the motorcycle needs to be privately owned.
Areas under the modified GCQ, the local government units have the option to implement the sais protocols depending on the local situation.
