Bohol registers the most number of Covid cases in one day at 13

Bohol registers a single-day record of 13 coronavirus disease (Covid) cases, according to a report by Gov. Arthur Yap on Friday, August 21, 2020.

The 13 cases reported in one day is the most number of cases reported in Bohol since the provincial government started tracking the Covid-positive cases that started in January 2020.

Yap said 10 cases are from Guindacpan Island, Talibon; one (1) case is in barangay San Jose in Talibon and the two (2) remaining cases are from Malingin Island in Bien Unido.

The governor said that one (1) of the patients, who is from Guindacpan Island, is now admitted at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH). Rest of the patients are asymptomatic, the governor added.

He bared that all new Covid patients are considered as community transmission, as they don’t have any travel history. They are not overseas Filipino workers (OFW) nor locally stranded individuals (LSI).

With the development, Bohol has 35 active Covid cases, with 29 Covid patients are considered as active community transmission cases.

The governor said that the Covid situation is still manageable and the local healthcare system can still absorb the active cases.

Currently, Malingin Island remains under lockdown and tight guarding of security personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
