All DEDVMH staff test negative for Covid

All the staff of Don Emilio del Valle Memorial Hospital (DEDVMH) test negative for coronavirus disease (Covid) following the release of the complete results, according to Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (B-IATF) spokesman Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez.

Lopez made his pronouncement during the regular episode of the provincial-government radio program Tingog sa mga Bol-anon, on Friday, August 21, 2020.

Lopez said around 244 personnel of the said hospital were subjected to swab tests for the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, in early August 2020. He said that the hospital personnel tested negative including the hospital chief Dr. Nelson Elle.

The B-IATF spokesman said that the tests were done in order to set the record straight and to erase doubts that can lead to discrimination.

With the results, Lopez assures the public that the said hospital does not harbor potential carriers of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the virus that causes Covid.

It was reported that a hospital staff of DEDVMH was exposed to a formerly Covid-positive mother who gave birth to twins in the said hospital. The report was released on August 7, 2020. The mother, from Malingin Island, Bien Unido, has recovered from the infection.

Currently, there are 18 active community transmission cases in Malingin Island. The island is still under lockdown as health authorities are still conducting swab tests to residents of the said island.
