Land dispute leads to shooting incident in Duero

Police reports that, allegedly, a land dispute was the motive behind a shooting incident that happened in Duero town on Tuesday. August 25, 2020.

The police identified the suspect as a certain Reynaldo Ayunan, 45, of purok 6, barangay Itum, Duero town. The suspect remains at large.

According to the police, the suspect has allegedly a long standing grudge with the victim, identified as Leonardo Maquimot, 49, also of barangay Itum, Duero, who is the brother-in-law of the suspect.

Reports say prior to the shooting incident, that the suspect and the victim had an argument. The suspect then drew his .45 caliber pistol and shot the victim. The victim was hit on the right leg. The victim then scampered away from the scene for safety. The suspect also fled from the scene and as said, he remains at large as of this writing.

The victim was brought to the Teodoro B. Gallagar District Hospital for treatment.

Duero police are now conducting hot pursuit operations against the suspect.
