OPENING OF BOHOL’S PCR LAB: A milestone in the fight against Covid

A NEW MILESTONE: The containerized polymerase chain reaction (PCR) laborarory is seen as a new milestone in the province’s fight against coronavirus disease (Covid). The opening as well as the operationalization of the province’s containerized polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is carving a milestone for Bohol’s fight against coronavirus disease (Covid). The provincial government procured the laboratory to increase the province’s capability to test specimens and to give authorities the opportunity to implement the right interventions in containing the spread of the Covid virus.

The containerized PCR laboratory, blessed on Monday,  August 24, is defining the political will of the provincial government, led by Governor Art Yap, together with the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan including other key personalities who are playing  a major role in the acquisition of the laboratory.

Fr. Val Pinlac officiated the blessing rites attended by some members of the Bohol media who were given a short tour inside the facility.

ACTUAL DEMONSTRATION: Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, spokesman of the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force(BIATF)  demonstrates the way to use one of the equipment inside the laboratory.

Barely two (2) days after the laboratory was blessed, the Department of Health (DOH) finally allowed the new laboratory to start its operations after the license to operate was issued to the provincial authorities.

THE MAIN MACHINE. This photo shows the polymerase chain reaction machine inside the containerized laboratory. This machine is capable of processing 24 swab samples every two (2) hours.
