PGBh set to launch a program for youth amid the pandemic

Gov. Arthur Yap reveals the plan of the provincial government of Bohol (PGBh) to launch a program for the youth of Bohol who are impacted by the lockdowns due to the reponse against coronavirus disease (Covid).

The governor made the revelation during the regular press conference in the Capitol on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020.

It can be recalled that on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020 the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO) with youth sector representatives and mental healfh experts met to discuss supervised programs for the youth.

To remember, minors aged 18 years and below are not allowed to go outside their homes except on Fridays and Saturdays, from 6 am to 6 pm. The curfew is meant to protect the youth, who is vulnerable to coronavirus disease (Covid) infections.

“Nakita nato na nagkinahanglan ug suporta ang mga kabataan ilabi na kay kasagaran kanila anaa lang sa ilang panimalay tungod sa ‘stay at home’ policy,” the governor said.

The program is dubbed as “Laum Bohol” and will be launched in the next few days, the govenor bared during the press conference.

“It is very critical that we give this program attention, according to specialists, the cases of depression among the youth are rising and even suicide incidents are rising, too. We need to provide the youth sufficient support for their emotional problems, psychological problems and their academic problems, at this time. That will be all covered under Laum Bohol,” the governor explained.
