LGU-Tagb cops PRIME-HRM bronze award from CSC

The local government unit (LGU) of Tagbilaran cops the Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management (PRIME-HRM) bronze award from the Commission on Civil Service (CSC).

Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II bared this latest achievement of the city through his Facebook post on his verified page on Sept. 11, 2020.

He said that Tagbilaran City was able to pass the rigid selection process of the CSC thus qualifying for the award.

The PRIME-HRM is a program that assesses the HRM practices, systems and capabilities of government agencies and entails greater engagement not just of the human resource (HR) officers but also of the officials and the rank-and-file employees of the agencies, the mayor said in his post.

The mayor added that the award aims to elevate public sector HR management to a level of excellence which is one of the programs of the CSC.

Moreover, the mayor expressed his appreciation to the city HR officer Karina Mae Uy and city administrator Cathylyn Torremocha for their efforts that led to the award given to Tagbilaran City.

Tagb’s composition tops Nutribalak tilt

Tagbilaran City’s balak or poem entitled “Stunting” emerged as the top prize winner of the 2020 Nutribalak contest organized by the Department of Health (DOH), National Nutrition Council (NNC) 7, and the Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholar Association (FEBANJSA), according to reports.

The contest, which was conducted during the 46th Nutrition Month celebration, had for its theme: “Batang Pinoy, Sana Tall, I was Stunting, Sana All”.

The second placer is from Dumaguete City, which sent a poem, entitled, “Nutrisyon Bantayog sa Lawas na Lig-on”.

The third placer, on the other hand, is from Danao City, Cebu province with the poem entitled “Batang Pinoy Sana Tall, I was Stunting”.

The entry from Carmen Cebu, entitled “Pagpakigbisog Para Sa Kahimsog” emerged as the most liked and shared poem on social media.

During the awarding ceremonies, Tagbilaran City was represented by Juanita Mahinay and Rey delos Santos, City Health Officer Jeia Pondoc said in a radio interview.

Furthermore, the prizes were given via virtual awarding ceremonies held on August 7, 2020 with the following in attendance: DOH regional director Jaime Bernadas; Quezon 2nd dist.  Rep. David Suarez; Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo; Dr. Liliand Zoila, provincial nutrition affairs officer of Negros Oriental; and Dr. Maria Asuncion Silvestre of the NNC.

Tagbilaran City conducts business forum

“Life goes on.” This is the mantra behind the business forum which Tagbilaran City conducts. The recently conducted forum was spearheaded by City Administrator Cathelyn Torremocha, City Tourism Officer May Hope Arcenal, and Atty. Colleen Guantero. The forum discussed the health protocols which commercial establishments need to comply with before opening their business activities. Various business enterprises like gyms, restaurants, and beauty parlors attended the sessions.
