The rice support to be given to impacted tourism industry workers is eyed to be distributed by this week, according to reports from Capitol media. The Bohol Tribune received the report on Sept. 21, 2020.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO) Carmelita Tecson is hopeful that the rice support for the affected tourism industry workers due to the pandemic, will be distributed by this week.
The provincial government purchased rice sacks from the National Food Authority (NFA) worth P8.9 million, according to reports.
The rice support for affected tourism workers is aside from the eight (8) kilos that the provincial government is giving to all Boholano families as a form of support as everyone has been impacted by the pandemic one way or another.
Moreover, Tecson said that 1,050 sacks have been acquired from the NFA and being repacked into rice bags weighing 10 kilos each. They will be given to identified affected tourism workers in the province.
Around 11,109 individuals have been, so far, identified and listed as affected tourism industry workers. These workers are from transport service sector, souvenir shops, and other sectors related to the tourism industry in Bohol.
Also, there are some individuals who are included in the list that have been submitted by the local government units through their tourism and social welfare officers, the Capitol media report said.
It has been reported that the provincial government has purchased around 7,185 sacks of rice from the NFA.
The Capitol media report says that it is a possibility that some names from different sectors of the tourism industry who may be added to the list of beneficiaries of the rice support.
