The total number of traffic accident cases in Bohol drop by 35% in the period from January to September 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, according to a report from Camp Francisco Dagohoy.
The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in a report provided to The Bohol Tribune on Sept. 29, 2020, said that during the recent Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting held recently, the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) said the number of traffic accident cases in the province declined from 2,543 cases from January to September 2019 to 1,648 traffic accident cases recorded from January to September 2020.
In the said meeting, Major Norman Nuez, operations officer based in Camp Francisco Dagohoy, further revealed that out of 1,648 traffic accident incidents, about 797 incidents resulted in physical injuries, while 803 cases resulted in damage to property.
The number of traffic accident cases with physical injuries decreased by 42.2% in 2020 compared to 2019 figures, from 1,479 cases in 2019 to only 797 cases in 2020.
Furthermore, Nuez said that in 2019, 86 persons died as a result of traffic accidents compared to 48 persons who lost their lives in traffic incidents in the province.
The PPOC is a regular meeting usually done quarterly, discussing peace and order issues and situation in Bohol. It is participated by government officials and state security forces’ representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, National Bureau of Investigation, among others.
