City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II personally hands over the P 20,000 check from the local government unit (LGU) of Tagbilaran to Librado Dalangin from barangay Taloto, a report from the City Media Bureau said on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020.
The same report said that the turnover of the check happened on Sept. 25, 2020, the same report from the City Media Bureau added.
The centenarian from Tagbilaran City will also receive P 100,000 from the national government as an added cash incentive.
Along with Mayor Yap during the turnover ceremony were Office of Senior Citizens’ Affairs (OSCA) head Belen Leyble, Federation of Senior Citizen Association of the Philippines (FSCAP) Tagbilaran City Chapter President Esperanza Brunidor, City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Bebie Aro, and Taloto Senior Citizens’ Association President Lucia Punzalan.
The OSCA continuously delivers the daily free birthday cakes and cash incentives to senior citizens amidst the Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic.
The City ensures that health protocols and safety standards are observed during the delivery of the said cake and cash incentive.
The new normal changes the way we celebrate the natal day of senior citizens who are residents of Tagbilaran. The senior citizens are considered to be most vulnerable to the virus, and as such, they are given special care and attention during the distribution of cakes and cash incentives done by the city government personnel.
In another development, the City Government administered flu and pneumonia vaccines for free to the elderly, as part of the city’s health program for the senior citizens this year.
Furthermore, the period spanning January to July this year, the OSCA was already able to do the following: release 10,693 birthday cakes to seniors citizens’ distribute Cash gifts to 11,604 senior citizens; distribute 9,160 movie booklets to the city’s elderly population; distribute 2,806 grocery booklets; and distribute 4,143 medicine booklets – all to senior, the report from the City Media Bureau says.
