Third district representative Kristine Alexie Tutor initiates action to help a family in Garcia-Hernandez whose members are allegedly being abandoned by the mother.

The third district representative was referring to posts on social media alleging that a mother abandoned her children. The solon said in her post on Facebook published on Sept. 29, 2020 that she asked the town’s Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWDO) to look into the matter.

Personnel from the MSWDO immediately started to get facts and generated a written report that was submitted to the third district solon. Initial reports show that four (4) minor children reportedly were not abandoned by their mother. Apparently, the mother was only busy with the processing of the transfer of her Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program registration from Cebu to Garcia-Hernandez.

The report also said that before the kids’ mother left, the mother asked relatives to keep an eye on the minor children, Tutor quoted the report rendered by the MSWDO of Garcia-Hernandez.

Tutor added that the kids and the mother are living in a makeshift shelter as they have yet to get a decent abode as they just transferred from Cebu to Garcia-Hernandez.

During the times the mother is away, the kids would stay and eat meals at the house of a relative who is living near the place they are staying, Tutor said based on the initial report by the Garcia-Hernandez MSWDO.

The kids would stay at their makeshift shelter only during the daytime, Tutor added.

“In short, naay nag bantay ug nagpakaon ani nila (the children) kay gilibotan man sila ug mga kaparyentehan,” Tutor said.

Moreover, Tutor revealed that there are also steps taken by the local government unit (LGU) of Garcia-Hernandez under the leadership of Mayor Tita Baja, These steps include the following, amon others:

*The LGU will send construction materials so the family can have a more decent living space.

*Manaba barangay captain Federico Amplayo told Tutor that the former will monitor the family and members of the barangay council will volunteer in the construction of the living space for the family.

* The LGU will also provide livelihood or employment to the mother of the children.

Tutor asked netizens to be more circumspect when sharing posts or making comments that can cause emotional harm especially to the mother. The solon said that the mother feels depressed because of the post regarding allegations that she abandoned her children. The mother assured the congresswoman that she will not abandon her children.

Meantime, the solon expressed her appreciation to the people who extended support to the family.

A Guindulman couple gets a new home from the Pabahay program of Third District Rep. Kristine Alexie Tutor, a report from the solon’s office reveals. The turnover of the new home happened on Sept. 24, 2020.
